Awesome
I don’t know what you people think is “less casualties” from Iwo Jima and Okinawa!?!?! Iwo cost the lives of nearly SIX THOUSAND Marines!!!!! If you think that is a lesser number than others, let me put you in a uniform, put you in front of the very last bastion of Isis fighters who have nothing left to loose!! Let’s see if you think your casualties will be less than others! Don’t even get me started on Okinawa!!!!! From one section to another, to another those men saw woman and children, sometimes moms with babies on their backs jumping off cliffs killing themselves. Then they would see civilians pick up machetes, axes, pitchforks, anything they could to fight and attack us right alongside the Japanese Army. Then they would come across families that believed exactly what the Japanese Army told them about us. We would kill them, .... their corpses and then eat them to destroy their souls and prevent them from reaching the afterlife. So, for those, when the Japanese Army ran off southward, and left them grenades and told them to hide in caves, try to draw as many US soldiers into the caves with you and then blow up the grenade!!!!! When Japanese Army members did actually surrender towards the very end, when they were put into confinement camps alongside the civilians(to keep the civilians from crossing back and forth on frontlines, even more than they had already been doing, and getting killed), when the civilians saw the Japanese Army members, the civilians would attack the Japanese soldiers!!!!! Six days before Love Day (L-Day), the actual assault landings on Okinawa, elements of the USA 77th Infantry Division took part in capturing the outer Kerama Islands just to the west of Okinawa proper. Do you know what they found? Boats, hidden in caves, whose hulls were packed with explosives!!!!! The Japanese didn’t think we’d even bother with the tiny Keramas! Good thing we did, huh!!!!! Then, came the Tokkotai!!!!! What we mistakenly call Kamikaze. (Contrary to popular miss belief, the 1st use of Tokkotai tactics WAS NOT at the Phillipines! It was at Pearl Harbor!). On the first wave of Tokkotai against our largest amphibious assault of the entire Pacific War came THREE HUNDRED FIFTY FIVE Enemy planes!!!!! 355!!!! And they came! And they came! Do you know what our troops on Okinawa discovered? Basically, one man flying death rockets! These rockets are attached to the underside of a bomber. When they pick a naval target they like and the rocket pilot detaches. His rudimentary piloting stick to focus on his target, he would ignite his propulsion fuel once clear of the bomber to pick upwards of 600mph and head for his target! When things bogged down in the south of the island, Admiral Halsey “enthusiastically” encouraged the unified ground forces commander USA Lt Gen Bucner Jr to MOVE HIS ...!!! The Admiral was loosing a ship and a half a day!! Then, if all that wasn’t enough!!! Then the Tokkotai started coming at night! Night after night!! Then the word was heard that the LARGEST BATTLESHIP EVER BUILT, the Japanese Yamato, was on it’s way to Okinawa! (What we later found out is that it was sent on a one way only suicide mission with just enough fuel to reach Okinawa, beach herself, and try to destroy as much American forces as possible). We got to the Yamoto before it even made it half the distance to reach Okinawa and sank it! Our troops at Oki had the HIGHEST level of combat fatigue ever seen in US Warfare History to that point in time!!!! And it didn’t even really have a psychological name yet! The Japanese completely changed their tactics! They had been preparing that island for over a year and a half!!!! Interconnected labyrinths of caves, tunnels, bunkers, reverse slope connectors. Hell!!!! The Japanese Army Command headquarters ran SEVEN STORIES ALL UNDERGROUND!!!!! One cave system ran completely over from the east side of the island to the west! OVER FIVE MILES!!!!! They had every blade of grass marked and cross haired! Gen Yushijima’s tactic was a war of attrition! To hold us up, and kill as many of us that they could, all the while giving mainland Japan time to better prepare for our invasion there. By the time that 65 mile long island was declared secured, 82 days later, we had more than 14,000 US KILLED!! FOURTEEN THOUSAND!!!!! 38,000 to 56,00 Wounded!!!!! 36 ships had been SUNK!!!!! 386 damaged!!!!! THREE HUNDRED SIXTY-EIGHT!!!!! And this was all over a little 65 mile long island 350 miles away from mainland Japan! The Japanese Army was guesstimated at the start to be between 75,000 to 100,000 total troops. By the time it was all said and done, the Japanese Army had OVER 100,000 DEAD!! (Guesstimates range from over 77k to 110k). See, the Japanese don’t like to move the dead, until they know who it is and the remains can be blessed. The death toll to the Battle of Okinawa will never end! The last time I looked into it was back 2014. 125 more names had to be added to the Mabuni Peace Wall names. And only about 7k Japanese soldiers ever surrendered!! And the civilians!! The civilians caught in the crossfire! Once again, the total number isn’t concise, and will continue to change. Most put the civilian death toll at upward of 150,000!!!!! That’s HALF their estimated population from that time!!!!! And in the eyes of the Japanese people back in 1945, the Okinawans were a SUB-HUMAN race!!!!! Hell!!!!! Most Okinawans considered themselves more Korean than anything else, until the Japanese took claim to the island an annexed it as part of Japan in 1879. Think of how ferociously they would fight to the last for their Descendant of a God Emperor if the Allies tried to invade Japan proper?!?!?
